Microbiome-Based Signatures for Early Detection of Colorectal Cancer

Abstract

Early detection of colorectal cancer remains a clinical priority. This study identified gut microbiome signatures associated with early-stage colorectal cancer using shotgun metagenomic sequencing. A microbial classifier demonstrated high diagnostic accuracy in distinguishing cancer patients from controls. These findings suggest that microbiome-based diagnostics may complement existing screening strategies.
